HORTICULTURAL PRODUCTS
The focus of our team’s research and extension efforts is the linkage between marketing, management, and
trade strategies of horticultural industries seeking to remain (or become) competitive. We include relevant policy
decisions (national and international) that influence economic outcomes.
A large portion of our integrated research, extension, and teaching program emphasizes the successful participation
of Michigan industries in the global economy. The program continues to evolve through regular interactions with
industry leadership, grower groups, agribusiness firms, extension field staff, and university researchers and extension
specialists.
Since we began in 2002 we have undertaken projects that included the following horticultural products: apples,
tart cherries, pears, strawberries, pickles, conifer seedlings. The links on this page lead to some basic information
about global (including Michigan) markets for these products. The research page will take you to more detailed
information about specific projects undertaken.
Both pages are updated as new products and new projects are underway.
